WEEK SIX/FINAL

Introduction of colour to create moods on each spread. The blue created on static soft mood which almost made the brochure boring. the choice of colours now have created a vibrant and colourful emotion.

WEEK FOUR/FIVE: DEVELOPMENT FULL MOCK UP/DIGITAL OUTPUT OPTIONS

From class critique, I have decided to go back to the silhouette theme/ cartoon theme. Simplistic design but still communicates the idea through the illustrations. The blue/black and white work with each other but may consider using more colours to give each spread a different vibe.

DIGITAL OUTPUTS

Design Studio

Design Studio is a 'all under one roof' business including advertising, sign writing, graphic design, photography and digital printing. After consultation with them over the phone on suggestions as to how to print/present my brochure, they had given me advice to go to their friend who specifically specialises in brochure printing. Design studio only do larger scale printing generally on 551 oracle or rapid air which is an adhesive and would not be the ideal option for me to use.

Claire Image

Claire Image is an independently owned printing business originated by Claire herself. After consultation with her regarding digital output, she had suggestion to to print on GSM paper types through her Fuji Xerox 700 Digital Colour Press to get the best result.

Paper suggested by Claire to use:

Stock Weight options:

100gsm
120gsm
160gsm
200gsm
250gsm
300gsm

WEEK FOUR: MOCK UP/DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

I have changed the colour them to a terrain colour for this developed mock up. Still yet to do the type in indesign but I feel as if the change of colour makes the spreads not as busy but still communicates the idea across the spread showing consistency and contract between the 3 chosen colours

WEEK THREE/FOUR: DEVELOPMENT/MOCK UP

Development concepts

From class critique, it came to my attention that the first initial concepts did not really convey the idea of each type of riding clear enough. To the untrained eye, each silhouette did not really communicate the image well enough, I have come up with some more concepts that reflect from the first. These images communicate each idea better along with a more well balanced format. reading from the top left/image clearly portraying each image as to what it exactly is. the 2 page spread works well with each other being consistent through colour and movement. Trying out grids in photoshop ready to enter proper text

WEEK THREE: SILHOUETTES COMPOSITIONS CONCEPT

WEEK THREE: EXPERIMENTING DIFFERENT STYLISTIC APPROACHES

Using the terrain of each type of riding within each type of riding text.

WEEK TWO/THREE: EXPERIMENTING STYLISTIC APPROACHES

Use of silhouettes

Using silhouettes I believe can communicate the image more effectively being in restricted light against a brighter or darker background. this stylistic approach shows simplicity but is still strong. the use of blank space also compliments well with silhouettes being only 2 contrasting colours

he dark shape and outline of someone or something visible in restricted light against a brighter background.

WEEK TWO: RESEARCHING STYLISTIC APPROACHES

'Movement' by South. Designpump.com

Very vibrant/bright colours which contrast well and show emphasis on the main image being the focal point. The dull background also draws the readers eye to to colours. The motion lines through the female show good movement which could suggest 'dancing' as it is a music event. The use of balance is shown through the mid alignment  of the main image with the text being right aligned at the bottom. This busy poster has a range of shapes, cirlces, korus, diamonds and lines almost giving it a 'summer' / 'fun' vibe.

'Zomibe' by Stuckwithpins. Designpump.com

This 'horror' based poster shows good alignment through the well balances image with the lines drawing the eyes in to the focal point. The purple/green/black contrast well all complimenting each other. The 'scary' feeling can be shown through the use of font and splashes almost representing frankenstein and blood.

'Disconnect' by Xsachax. Designpump.com

The first thing that stood out to me in this poster was the use of contrast through the black and white theme. emphasis is shown through the red lines which could suggest movement being a dance event. The AUX chord shown at the bottom also suggests what type of poster it is - being a gig. Emphasis on the 'disconnect' being bigger and the blank space on the top left leads the reader to the image then the text

WEEK ONE: INTRO, BRIEF AND RESEARCH

Objective & Brief

Intro To Brief! The aim is to develop an explicit understanding of the design process through the exploration of fundamental design principles. In this project I will be taking you on a journey through design development to produce a brochure that promotes recreational destinations or activities in the Greater Wellington area.

Puna, Design Fundamentals and Process

Ideas are always sourced from all around us - communities, clients, inspiration, words, artists, designers so on. Puna is the origin of ideas and knowledge. In using and developing those ideas we need to be aware where they have come from, and design and make in a conscious way.
